Suman Seth receives Distinguished Teaching Award
Dr. Suman Seth is a recipient of the 2017-2018 Stephen and Margery Russell Distinguished Teaching Award. This award recognizes faculty in Cornell’s College of Arts & Sciences who have demonstrated their devotion to teaching, including classroom presence, preparation and administration, student counseling, development of new courses, and new methods of student instruction.
Dr. Seth has consistently been lauded by both undergraduate and graduate students for his teaching and advising. He has been praised for his engaging lectures, intellectually challenging course content, and accessibility. Prof. Seth’s lectures are particularly well-regarded: though the straight lecture is out of fashion, his well-constructed, exciting lectures are the model of what lectures can be. Several of his former students have credited one of his classes as being their most memorable at Cornell. Prof. Seth also receives extremely positive comments for his advising. Students recognize his rare talent for both exciting them for learning as well as caring for them as individuals.
